Desert Landscape - 800 residential homes aboard the Combat Center have had green lawns replaced with water saving desert landscapes.
Artificial Turf - Groundwater is the sole source of potable water aboard the Combat Center. This is a finite resource with a slow recharge rates. All water conservation efforts directly diminish groundwater consumption.
Native plants for landscaping - Native plants are used as part of the landscaping in new buildings to save on water consumption.
Water Conservation - Recent water conservation efforts include the installation of synthetic turf in traditionally grassed recreational areas such as parks and playgrounds.
